Drunkin food
by YOgurt
The food is usually good but the waiters are always drunk. I have even seen the owner (I think it is) buy the waiters drinks. I just don't understand why when they are working it has to be their party time when I am paying.
- Pros: Good food sometimes
- Cons: Drunken waiters
Poor customer service!
by carolbabe
Custom service is very distasteful. Employees and the manager have no tact! Often rude to customers.
- Pros: food is good.
- Cons: customer service is lousy
Some of the best "New Mexican" food in the city.
by jonescraigr
I've been coming here on and off for the last 20+ years. Always good, reliable, food, service and atmosphere, and affordable prices. I always bring/send people here when they say they want "New Mexican" food. I happen to just love the seafood enchaladas. In the winter, it's nice to sit in a sofa by the fireplace while eating. Warm and friendly.
OUTSTANDING GEM
by Vincepapale
Outstanding little family owned gem. Great atmosphere, Superb food and inexpensive. Average dinner is around $10. Fast service - don't miss this fantastic eatery!
- Pros: Food, Atmosphere, cost
- Cons: non during my visit
Unreliable for large group reservations
by Jim1044
Cervantes offers an excellent deal in their private dining room but cannot be relied upon to honor reservations. I reserved the private room for a dinner board meeting a week in advance and confirmed it the day of the event. We arrived at the restaurant to find that we had been pre-empted by a larger group. We were offered an open table instead: unsatisfactory for a business meeting. As a compromise, the restaurant set up an extra table in the private room, but we had to cut our meeting short when the larger group arrived.
Cervantes has been one of my favorite restaurants for casual dining, but booking their private dining room is risky.
great atmosphere, above average food
by DrexlerMcStyles
We've been here a couple times. The layout of this place, decor, style, etc. is great. The food was pretty good but not really great. Maybe I havent tried the right thing. But for the money I wasnt really impressed. I can find food just as tasty elsewhere in town while spending less money. But if its atmosphere your looking for to put you over the top with a date or something you could do a lot worse.
- Pros: old school decor, romantic
- Cons: service was not too good, rice wasnt either
Very judgemental service!!
by lostbuthere
The lighting was good but as we were seated the waiter switched with another waiter. Wondering why, but ignoring the situation, the older waiter passed by whispering hater comments. I will never eat here or recommend others to eat here if you dont look like the "average joe" .
Order the rellenos, again, and again!
by r0cketj
Cerantes has the finest chile rellenos and New Mexico red chile I have ever tasted.
While the spicing is authentically New Mexico, its menu selections and decor are decidedly Spanish. It is an elegant old-style eatery, reminiscent of the steak houses of the '50s and 60s, however, when I asked if there was a dress code, the hostess laughed out loud and said, "Are you kidding? This is Albuquerque."
