Feels Like Home

I'm from Brooklyn, NY and I've been here in ABQ for about 1 year and I've been on a searsh to find a good pizza joint. When someone from Kirkland AFB turned me on to Giovanni's, I couldn't have been happier! Its great! Highly recommend.

Best Pizza

Simply put, this is the best place for real Italian food in Abq. Pizza is crispy, toppings are fresh, and the red sauce is fabulous.
- Pros: great food
- Cons: a little out of the way, depends on where you live

This laid-back neighborhood pizzeria serves the city's best New York style pies to a loyal families and a military crowd.

The Scene
With red Formica booths, signed movie Mafioso photos on the wall, and hard rock blaring from the kitchen radio, Giovanni's atmosphere is reminiscent of a Roller King snack bar circa 1984. Patrons are mostly neighborhood families and uniforms from the nearby Air Force base.
The Food
The requisite toppings are available, but Giovanni's specialty pizzas steal the show. The White Pie's three heaping layers of cheese are too much of a good thing, but Giovanni's Spinach Pie is nearly perfect, with a thick layer of bright, juicy (not soggy), flavorful spinach. Even spinach haters will succumb. The Pummarola pizza, with no cheese, extra garlicky tomato sauce, onions and spices, is killer--you'll never miss the cheese. And the jumbo calzones demonstrate truth in advertising.
Great NY style Pizza

I've tried just about every pizza place out there in Albuquerque, searching for good pizza like the East Coast has. I've tried Giovanni's twice and the second time was MUCH better than the first. It was exactly what I was looking for. Foldable slices, that's mmm cheesy goodness.

I've never been to New York, but my friend says it's just like a new york city pizza joint, well, all i can verify, is the place has THE BEST pizza in town.

Giovanni's Calzones
by tom durham
After careful study, I find the calzones at Giovanni's to be the best tasting New York style calzones in the city. They don't overdue the crust, and the cheeses are abundant and spread over the entire creation. The oil used truely gives it a New York flavor, and the portion size makes it two meals on most occasions. Just fantastic!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Take phone orders
- Cons: , Drink prices high

NYC Pizza at its best. The quality of the food, the size of the pie, the character of the personnel, and the authentic ambience surpass those of the others. A true pizza experience.
