Best malts
by alwzl84ad8
The staff is very friendly and will customise anything you order. They still use real powdered malt, instead of the tasteless malt syrup.
- Pros: Real powered malt instead of liquid, and wonderful staff
- Cons: A little heavy into the 50s thing; but it was still fun.
Not Merely Nostalgia
by amatrixpueri
One day I went into 66 Diner with the intention of, in my own words, 'eating light' (my appetite was much more voracious back then). I ordered a root beer float and an 'appetizer' of chili cheese fries. All dreams of a light lunch obliterated, I ended up so full the trek back down to TVI was truly tortuous, and the leftover fries I stuffed in my bag produced conspicuous smells in my sociology class. Even so, the experience ranks as one of my favorites: I remember looking with moist eyes and a stunned brain upon that exceptional float, as tall as a toddler and all but filled with ice cream, topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry, more 50s than the 50s itself, utterly gorgeous and irresistible. The fries, which came later, were no less enthralling-a huge (wasn't this supposed to be an appetizer?) plate of crisp golden-brown fries smothered in Texas chili that lived up to all the expectations a Missouri-raised girl with a Southern-fried mother could expect to have, and topped with wonderfully bright orange cheese. It was over a year and a half ago and I can still remember the taste of it. In short, I love this place. It doesn't just recall the Route 66 diners it aspires to emulate, it recreates them, and lives up to the fine traditions of American roadside diner food.
- Pros: nostalgia, impeccable frozen concoctions
- Cons: 50s theme maybe heavyhanded?
Perfect milkshakes and blue-plate specials await famished vagabonds at this diner named after the famous highway.

In Short
Located on its historic namesake (now known as Central Avenue), the diner beckons people back to the time of bebop and soda pop. The fully stocked jukebox has all the classics you'd expect. This joint serves creamy milkshakes and its popular chicken-fried steak. Burgers are thick and juicy. French fries are crispy golden brown. This diner's blue-plate specials, including spaghetti, chicken pot pie, lasagna and fried catfish, make the best comfort food for miles around.
Could be-Would be - Might be better

I have eaten there several times. The food is O.K. The place is clean. The help could use some training and it isn't a 5 star restraunt.
- Pros: Easy access

I have visited Route 66 many times and the food has always been good, the service great and the prices reasonable...
The Most Malt!
by sharylz
66 Diner has always had the greatest shakes and malts. One burger, fries, and their large malt will be all you can handle. Next time; forget the burger and fries, and just enjoy the wonderful malt.
- Pros: friendly help, happy atmosphere
- Cons: parking is crowded, sometimes too loud
