Fantastic experience

by jpill at Citysearch

This small restaurant has a wonderful cozy atmosphere from the time you step in the door. The service was great the entire wait staff went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. Our food was fantastic; the Henry IV nearly melts in your mouth and with the artichoke and sauce that complement the steak to perfection. The Pork Normande was moist with an apple wine sauce that was not overly sweet. We would absolutely return to this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quiet dinner with great food and service.

  • Pros: Food, service, ambiance
  • Cons: None experienced

Best filet we have ever had!

by mrsshep00 at Citysearch

My husband and I went out to Restaurant Antiquity on a Monday evening. I made reservations a few hours before we went. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. Fabulous!! We both ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon for dinner. It was perfectly cooked to both of our likings. The best we have ever had! The atmosphere was very cozy and intimate. Only complaint is that seating is not very cooperative for an 8 month pregnant woman. But the food was definitely worth it!

  • Pros: Cozy, delicious food, incredible service, great price
  • Cons: Seats are a little small for pregnant women (me)

If you have not tried Antiquity I don't know what you're waiting for. My partner and I went there for our 5th year wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed in the least. From start to finish, there wasn't one thing we didn't enjoy!!! Beautiful restaurant with a romantic atmosphere.

Anniversary Dinner

by mdclor at Citysearch

Based on previous reviews, I requested table 4 and it did provide a very enjoyable setting for our anniversary dinner. We arrived earlier than our reservation but were seated immediately. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The menu has numerous tempting choices, but we decided on the Chateaubriand for Two. It was perfectly cooked to our liking and was well complemented by the Caymus Cabernet, which was fairly priced. The staff was very attentive and we were asked by 3 different people if everything was to our liking. We had the dessert sampler plate and the chocolate mousse, key lime pie and creme brulee managed to disappear although neither of us had room for them. Our only quibble is that we felt somewhat rushed.

  • Pros: excellent beef
  • Cons: felt rushed

Far short of expectations

by mjmorgan at Citysearch

The description of the choices sounded great--inventive (well, it being NM, everthing had chilis in it) even. The execution stumbled. My French Onion Soup had a thin broth with little flavor (flavor built by several deglazes and yes, that takes time) though I liked the idea of melting the cheese on the crouton and not a slab of cheese all over the crock. The marlin was overcooked but the habanero glaze had promise and I did like the cold chutney. The 6 tiny vegetables were very tasty and cooked perfectly. Did not bother to get coffee or the consolation prize dessert. My waitron was pretty good, however. Not worth a second trip, nor a recommendation to friends.

  • Pros: 6 tiny vegetables
  • Cons: Food was not very good.

Splendid

by DenChvz at Citysearch

How many great things can be said about this restaurant? It glows in romantic light, the food is expertly prepared, the service goes above and beyond great expectations. If ever there is a place in Albuquerque that is truly remarkable in all categories, this is the one. The whole experience will live in my mind forever. Waitstaff is usually a reclection of management, so whatever is going on here is coming from the top down. Beautiful, romantic, excellence. Try the Louis IV and someone very special to enjoy the elegance of an evening.... you will talk about it for a very long time.

  • Pros: Thumbs up all the way
  • Cons: none

Just a block off of Old Town's plaza, diners are treated to continental cuisine in a cozy, romantic adobe.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Nestled in a historic adobe in the city's charming Old Town neighborhood, Antiquity's twisty-turny, convoluted interior is a reflection of its former life as a private home and thankfully provides plenty of private nooks. The intimate, red crackle-painted, front dining room offers just a handful of dimly lit, black cloth-covered tables. The brighter back room contains high-backed booths and larger tables in the center.

The Food

The first thing to arrive at your table--a basket of delicious, piping-hot bread--is bound to endear you to this place. The richly sauced menu is a dieter's nightmare, but couples out for a romantic evening will be willing to splurge on classics like the grilled Chateaubriand with bearnaise, sized for two and carved tableside. Finish it off by sharing a slice of the delightfully crunchy-crusted cheesecake.

Fantabulous

by olabashanda at Citysearch

If I were proposing to my wife, and I lived in Albuquerque, I'd go here!

Table 4 is your table, for a romantic birthday, anniversary or for propsing. You can't SEE another table in the entire restaurant from there. Table 5 in almost as good; I may not want to sit in some of the other tables that are centrally located in the restaurant for an ultra romantic date, as the restaurant is small and people will likely walk right past you.

EVERYTHING we had was spectacular.

  • Pros: romantic x7, intimate, A+ food & wine
  • Cons: , start saving $ now

Overrated

by Postmodern_Millie at Citysearch

While the setting is cute and the service first-rate, the steaks are tiny and the salad gritty. We found the menu overpriced for what you get. Great wine list.

  • Pros: Cute, Attentive staff, Wine list
  • Cons: Food just ok, Overpriced
