Cinnamon Rolls are to die for!

This restaurant has the most amazing cinnammon rolls! They don't have nuts nor are they covered in glaze like in other states. Instead the sweet rolls are smothered in warm melted butter and you will need a knife and fork to eat it! The western hash browns with red and green chiles is both spicy and delicious. But best of all is the coffee which is served in to-go cups. If you are a college student between classes or a world traveler looking for authentic New Mexican food this is the place to see and be seen.

• Pros: Food, prices (it's cheap!), cinnammon rolls, coffee, anything with chiles!
• Cons: Parking - hard to navigate in one way areas but there are plenty of parking spots

Frontier doesn't care about your restaurant experience

When I arrived on 9/2/8, I parked next to a sign that said "45 minute Frontier Parking." I thought, "Rude to limit your customers... but we'll be in and out and on our way in no time."<br>

When I returned to my car LESS than 45 minutes later, I have this orange sticker on my car say "When blocking or obstruction of work passage, the charge is $5.00 per hour payable at the Frontier Restaurant. If not paid, this is a notice that the next time your vehicle is on the lot with an outstanding charge, it will be towed at your expense. Call 266-0050." I thought, what pompous restaurateurs! I'm here to patron their business, I park no more than 5 feet from their 45 minute sign, and they have the audacity to treat a customer like this!<br>

It is obvious that this restaurant has no idea about what customer service means. I was going to write this email directly to Frontier, but when they don't provide an email address, I decided a public forum was better.<br>

Fortunately, I am not from Albuquerque. I will not be stopping by Frontier again. Just be aware: Their lack of respect for your patronage can ruin your meal.<br>

Frontere The Good, The Bad , The Ugly...

So on you're on your way to Albuquerque, for the first time ever, and you want to experience a place that is truly one of the most bizarre, original, quirky, downright scary at times, places to eat a meal. Plan a trip to the Frontere. It is not for the faint of heart! (2 am on a weekend is a mad house) If you eat just 1 thing on the menu, I would hope its a Frontere Roll. They are covered in soy butter and cinnamon sugar , warmed in a microwave for about a minute\. Delicious, and even more so when you have been drinking. Though I always eat breakfast burritos, I can't say I recommend actually eating them for breakfast. Unless you want to suffer from cramps, and the "you know what's" all day long. Better to eat it late at night, with a belly full of booze, and a ready toilet in the morning. It's a pit, but it's Albuquerque. Most will agree that you haven't lived untril you've been there, however some wish they were dead when they leave.

• Pros: Homeless people, Breakfast , 24 hours, John Wayne, The little paper hats they like to wear
• Cons: Homeless people, 2AM crowd, Securtiy guards, people that go there that warrant having security guards, occasion problems "the next day"

Best Green Chile Stew

The Frontier is an old Alburqueque institution, serving up heaping portions of old American and New Mexican standbys cafeteria style. The green chile stew is probably the single best item on the large menu and thankfully it can be added to just about any dish. Every city should have a place like this, where you can go any hour of the day for a home cooked hot meal at a good price. The Frontier Burrito smothered with the green stuff is best item on the menu and consistently excellent. Ask for extra honey for your freshly made tortillas that come with every meal. The Frontier will live forever.

It USE to be good!

In the past few years the Frontier has become one of the worst restaurants in ABQ.

I've been eating there since the late 70's, when the Frontier was truly one of the best restaurants in town. Now the food is, at best, mediocre and way (WAY!) over priced. The dining rooms are dirty, the restrooms are just gross, and most of the counter clerks (you place your order and pick it up at the counter) are insolent and rude. I've been in denial for a few years, but I finaly re-evaluated my perception of this place that I once loved, and I have to *painfully* admit that I hate it now.

There are dozens of good restaurants in the university area, don't waste your time and money at this dump.

• Pros: With-in UNM walking distance.
• Cons: You may get sick.

I don't get all the fuss over this place...

I've lived in Albuquerque for nearly four years now, and I honestly don't understand the fuss over this place. I mean, it's not like ABQ is lacking good, reasonably priced places to eat.

People rave about this place -- it's always in the top three or four in most of the Alibi ratings, which are based on readership votes -- and I just don't get it.

Most of my friends rave about it. Last time I ate there, I had a breakfast burrito that stayed with me for three days.

It might be "cheap," but a wise man once told me, "You get what you pay for," which at Frontier is a bad mean in a scary setting.

Honestly, I don't get it. Would someone please explain to me why this place is so popular? I'm serious. What am I missing?

Bad Food

The place needs to be cleaned and scrubed with soap and water. I would rather go hungry and eat there again. But hey, if you want bad food, dirt and noise, go there so you can look at all the strange people walking by.

Best overpriced refuse in Albuquerque

If you're looking for amazing food that's reasonably priced, this would NOT be the place for you.

To use a quick Oregon Trail metaphor, if your party is about to die of starvation...you'd be better off dying of dysentery than eating on the Frontier. It's essentially self-service for overpriced food that tastes and looks as if it were fresh from the trash out back.

• Cons: Everything imaginable regarding the restaurant

Excellent huevos rancheros!

I've been eating at the Frontier for about 20 years now, and I completely love it! The fresh squeezed orange juice is a must, and for those of you looking for above par huevos rancheros...this is the place to be!

Get the green chili stew on top, and then top that off with the salsa they have at the condiment station for a wallop of hot and delicious!

Another must is a cinnamon roll. They're as big as your head and have enough hot, dripping butter on them, to give you a heart attack right there!

As always, the Frontier is an excellent choice for late nighters because they're open 24hours. Don't be spooked by other posts that talk about the homeless. Think about it....it's right across from UNM, of course there are gonna be vagrants..it's only natural.

I absolutely reccomend it!

It's not cheap!

For some reason, the Frontier made the cheap eats list. But see, it's a rip-off. The food is pretty crappy, and it's expensive for what you get. I think the reason people think it's cheap is that they're always drunk when the stumble in.
