Be prepared for drawbacks if you buy a new pet.

by janicemary2 at Citysearch

Be careful when buying a new dog here. Most dogs are sick and ours didn't look sick at first but she left the store with a runny nose which later turned out to be pnumonia. There are a lot of people complaining about their new pets catching pnumonia but the owner will refuse to pay the vet bill. She payed for mine but she said that xrays aren't necessary for pnumonia and that the bill was over charged. The bill was only 195 bucks and that included xrays and antibiotics. The owner is very rude but I treated her the same way she was treating me and got her to pay the bill. If you get a dog here, just be prepared that when your dog gets sick you will have to deal with a rude owner that will refuse to pay for a vet bill. If she doesnt pay, just return the dog and take her to court for the vet bill. The place always smells horrible and pets are sometimes sick there. The products are always expensive. The only thing nice there are the friendly staff that work for her.

  • Pros: Friendly staff, with the exeption of the owner.
  • Cons: Owner is rude and careless and products are expensive,

Cat

by CVan at Citysearch

I purchased a cat from Critters and have had no problems with the cat. It clearly states on the cat crate that cats may or may not be spayed?neutered or have shots and you are responsible for taking them to the vet. I think if people buy pets and are gonna complain because the pet gets sick then they have no business owning a pet because it is part of being a responsible pet owner and if you can't afford a vet bill then don't get one. Many of my neighbors levae their cats and dogs outside no matter the weather and not all people vaccinate and your pet can pick things up very easy. Don't take new pets to pet stores or parks for at least a month because they can get sick and don't buy unpackaged toys or crappy cheap pet food ( if corn or by product is on there it is BAD!) Don't feed human food because there is a lot that is TOXIC for pets ( grapes, onions, etc.) You are lukcy that the owner vaccinates dogs( not illegal if you are not a vet) you can even ask the vet and they will give it to you to do yourself ( depending on vet).

  • Pros: Employees friendly and helpful

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE

by doggwalk at Citysearch

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A POMERAINIEN FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. SHE SAID SHE WOULD COUGH FOR ABOUT TWO WEEK S BECAUSE OF THE HUMIDITY DIFFERENCE FROM HER LIVING IN OKLAHOMAH. THE HEALTH GUARANTEE IS FOR 2 WEEKS, SO THAT IS MOST LIKELY WHY SHE SAID TWO WEEKS. SO AFTER 2 WEEKS SHE WAS STILL COUGHING SO WE CALLED THE OWNER AND THEY GAVE US MEDICINE. THAT DID NOT DO ANYTHING...

SO WE THEN TOOK HER TO THE VET AND JUST AS I SUSPECTED SHE HAD KENNEL COUGH... AND WE TOLD THE VET THAT SHE HAD GIVEN US MEDICINE, AND THE VET SAID SHE WAS PRACTICING VETRINARY MEDICINE WITHOUT A LICENCE. WHICH SHE CAN GET SHUT DOWN FOR... ALSO WHEN I CALLED THE VET AND SAID THAT I THINK THAT SHE MAY HAVE KENNEL COUGH THEY SAID LET ME GUESS YOU GOT HER FROM KRITTERS PET STORE. THEY SAID THEY WILL GET SEVFERAL CASES A MONTH FROM HER PET STORE. ALSO WE HAD TO GET A PARASITE TEST BECAUSE MANY OF HER PUPPIES HAVE PARASITES. ALSO SHE USUALLY HAS MORE THEN 30 PUPPIES AT A TIME.... SO MOST LIKELY SHE GETS HER PUPPIES FROM A PUPPY MILL SO LETS GO TOGETHER TO SHUT HER DOWN.

  • Pros: GOOD LIARS
  • Cons: SICK DOGS

Just be prepared

by JCboy505 at Citysearch

I recently purchased a puppy from the friendly staff at Critters in Rio Rancho. The same day I brought her home I noticed she had a runny nose. Later, I noticed she had a little "red stuff" in her stool when she went potty. When I took her to the vet, she was given antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection (the vet was afraid it may go into her lungs and cause Pneumonia) and also prescribed some de-wormer for her tummy. A few days later an adult roundworm came out of her. Her paperwork from Critters said she was recently de-wormed, however this was an adult roundworm. This may not be the case with every animal from Critters, however, just be prepared, and realize you may to spend more money on the pet in vet bills soon after getting the pet.
