Garduno's Of Mexico

Much better than locals want to admit.

Garduno's is one of those places that locals love to hate, perhaps because it has expanded beyond being a local restaurant (thereby making it a "chain" - gasp!), maybe for some other reason. There is a reason the restaurant has done so well, though. I've been to Garduno's four times, three of those times at this location. I have never had to wait more than 15 or 20 minutes to sit, even on a weekend. The service has always been friendly and prompt. I've always been very happy with the food, and I've ordered something different every time. I've taken family here when they've been in town, and no one has ever been disappointed with their food or the experience.

One thing I really like about Garduno's is that the menu is large, meaning that you feel you really have a choice of what you eat (as opposed to some Mexican restaurants, where you can order enchiladas with chicken or beef, tacos with chicken or beef, or burritos with chicken or beef). I like to think I have a good amount of experience with Mexican food (of varying qualities), and while Garduno's is nothing to call the president about, it's still very tasty. Go with an open mind and leave your cynical Albuquerquian friends at home.

FIRE THE CHEF

I HAVE EATEN IN ALL OF THE GARDUNO'S RESTAURANTS OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED UNTIL NOW. THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE, THE SERVICE POOR AND THE ATMOSPHERE LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED. I WOULD NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN.

I Would Never Go Back

I agree with the other two reviews because there is absolutely nothing good that I can write about this place. The food was barely edible, the service was poor, the atmosphere is lousy as it is too loud and obnoxious, and the margaritas are far too expensive. When our bill came, I felt totally swindled.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. TASTES LIKE FAST-FOOD!

Fast-food quality. Taste is poor at best. Prices too high for quality and quantity. Service is BAD! Waiter came to our table and immediately asked, "Ready to order yet?" WE HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN A MENU! SO many BETTER places in town, there is NO reason to walk through the doors of this establishment!

Terrible! We had to wait 1 1/2 hours to be seated, because they were unorganized, not busy. The waitress took forever and when she did arrive she spilled soda on my husband. We had to ask for chips and salsa three times and still did not get them. food was cold when it arrived.
