Excellent!
by duckskey
I was in Albuquerque on business for 12 nights and ate here 5 times! I usually arrived around 5:30 p.m. when Happy Hour was in full swing. One of the nightly Happy Hour specials is Grey Goose martinis for $5.50. The bartender made them well. Oysters were served in a large mound of ice and very fresh. The alligator was the best I have ever had and served with three dipping sauces. The decor is upscale casual. I highly recommend sitting at the bar where all the action is.
- Pros: Martinis, Oysters and Gator
- Cons: None
Was it the scallops?
by jersey2nm
The other 3 diners were impressed with their meals. However, I seemed to think my pan seared scallops were undercooked, or at least half of them. Regretably, I did not return the undercooked scallops and within an hour or so, I was sick - very sick. I should have known better.
- Pros: location, food presentation
- Cons: too dark
Is it just me?

It's unfortunate that the 2 times I went to Pappadeaux's, each time I was given poor service. The first time my husband and I went, we were seated by the hostess and the waitress. I asked to be seated in a certain area and I could see the glares the hostess and waitress had given each other. I asked if that was ok and of course she said yes....kinda awkward. Second time I was in a party of 18 ..the waiter and waitress were excellent until one of the servers slammed down the tray and said.."Where does THIS go?" My jaw dropped.
I do have to say their food is great , especially the coconut shrimp appetizer...mmmm they have this orange sauce that is to die for...try it if you get the chance.
I will probably not go there again. Service is almost everything to most people when dining out. Good luck.
- Pros: Excellent food...
- Cons: Hope you get a good server....
Excellent food and good service
by rver
We enjoyed the sister restaurant Pappacitos so we though we would give this a try. We had the Shrimp Creole and a spinach salad with shrimp and a creamy blue cheese dressing. Both excellent and the portions were large. Hot french bread was served with the meal and it was good. It is a large facility and very busy but the service was on spot and friendly. The menu is varied and if you crave some New Orleans favorites but can't get there, this was a good alternative. The only weak spot was the bar as no frosted glass for the beer and the Bloody Mary was only average. We will go back.
- Pros: Tasty food, large portions, good open feeling, excellent service
- Cons: Bar was average

I HAVE EATEN AT THIS RESTAURANT NUMEROUS TIMES WITH MY HUSBAND. WE HAVE ALSO TAKEN OUR CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN AND GUESTS THERE WHEN THEY VISITED. THE PLACE IS CLEAN, THE FOOD IS ALWAYS EXCELLENTLY PREPARED, THE SEAFOOD FRESH AND THE SERVICE STAFF ALWAYS POLITE AND ATTENTIVE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.
- Pros: GREAT FOOD, AMBIENCE AND SERVICE
- Cons: ALWAYS CROWDED
Tiny piece of fish, pile of fries

no salad or bread served with meals. Tiny portion of Fish is good, should be something else besides a pile of fries.
- Pros: fish is good
- Cons: tiny fish portions, no bread, lack of variety
Always impressed - LOVE this place!

Ate here 5 times & always impressed. We usually celebrate an occasion here b/c we can count on a perfect atmosphere, kinda busy, kinda romantic and dark, nice music and of course always GREAT seafood. They have live music (don't know what nights) outside... Highly recommend their rum shots - we had 2 each with our drinks and they were SO good. Also, the Orleans fillet, salmon, Mahi Mahi w/ Diablo sauce (I think they took it away though, but the cook can special order it), & always the Pappadeaux platter! They have great mixed drinks & actually have alcohol in them and are worth the money - I always feel good after the first one, unlike other restaurants. Another thing, we have never waited too long for a table during busy times & if so, they have a big bar to have a couple drinks at anyways.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere
TERRIBLE!!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
by abqsteve
Give me a break...like I really believe the previous reviews were written by actual customers. Sounds like second rate ad copy whipped up by someone in their marketing department. The food, service and ambience are a joke - nothing but overpriced pseudo Cajun junk passed off as athentic ethnic cuisine. I spent many years in Louisiana and this place does not do it justice. The dirty rice was dry, fish was over cooked and the service robotic. Don't waste your time.
- Pros: none
- Cons: price, food, ambience
One of Albuquerque's Best Seafood Restaurants
by marcri
One of my favorite restaurants for seafood. The Prince Edward Island's Mussels are out of this world!!! The Greek Salad is a must...
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: Noisy, Somewhat of a wait
Fantastic!!!!

This was the most wonderful experience my husband and I have had eating out. The best seafood in town and the most wonderful desserts. The Blackened oyster fondue is a great way to start the meal. If it's just the two of you, try ordering the pappadeax platter and splitting it. If you have room for dessert, the creme brulee is the best I've ever had. Try the White Lightening Margarita for grins.......
- Pros: Great Service, Fantastic Food, Great Atmosphere
- Cons: , Some Wait for Seating
