A huge disappointment.
This place has been an Albuquerque Staple for as long as I can remember, and I have always wanted to try it.
My husband, son and I stopped in for lunch today and we will not be going back. We arrived at 1pm and were one of 4 tables. The lunch crowd had already gone, so I expected decent service, which we did not recieve. My husband ordered a soda he never got, but was charged for, and we had to flag someone down to get our waters topped off. My son had the Chicken Chow Mein, I had the sweet and sour pork with an egg roll and chow mein, and my husband had pepper steak with fried rice and an egg roll. His steak was okay, but the chow mein was much too salty. In fact, salt was the only flavor in the dish. My son ate only a few bites of his. My sweet and sour pork was heavy on the sweet and light on the sour, and was bland without the cloyingly sweet sauce. The egg rolls were all very, oily (as was the egg drop soup). I ate all of my pork but could not power through the chow mein. We left, feeling disappointed. I always want to love a mom and pop place and it is a disappointment when I find one that is not so great.
Shortly after we left, my stomach was seized with cramps and I had to stay near a bathroom for the next several hours. My son also complained that his "far** smell like Chinese food".
Typically we give a restaurant at least three tries before we write it off as not worth it, but I think this one visit was more than enough for me.
best in the burque. This mom & pop place is the closest you come to authentic. Not much to look at but the food makes up for it. The staff is very friendly & they will customize the dish to suit your taste. No pretentious yuppies here fumbling with chopsticks here trying to impress. Use a fork & spoon. You don't want to miss a bite
Yummy Chinese Food!!!. A friend referred me to this restaurant. At first, I didn't think much of the place but after eating there several times in the last few months, I reallllllly like their food & friendly staff.
Dine In!. Great little chinese place. It is best to Dine In, that way, you can have some hot tea. The combination plates are always a good choice. I recommend the sweet & sour chicken myself (and so does my 2 year old).
