Great food, great atmosphere! I have been bringing my family to The Owl Cafe for over ten years, food and service have always been fantastic! The Malts are the best, and the greatest part is what the owner does for the community. I read in the paper the couple who own this diner have donated over 50 grand in charity. I will definitly recommend this place!
The food is just ok . The owner/manager is an ass. The food is ok. I haven't been there in years because when I would go the owner/manager? would be in the front with a bad attitude. I don't remember the food being memorable, but do remember the staff being on edge because the owner/manager would be a jerk. It made for uncomfortable dining for mediocre food. Part of the dining experience for me is to relax and destress, not eat in an uncomfortable setting
Far and away the best.. Careful, you'll dream of these burgers in your sleep. There's no better burger in New Mexico.
Yummy!. The Green Chile burger is awesome!! The best greasy home made style burger! The atmosphere is great, good old nostalgic diner! Love it!
Relax with a great shake.
I
I love the Owl Cafe ! Their hamburgers are the best, juicy and filling. I love 50's style cafe's and the Owl is one of the finest. It's relaxing, they don't hurry you and they have great shakes and floats. If you are not a "hamburger" person, they have other things, i.e. sandwiches, salads and even mexican food on certain days. You can't go wrong at the Owl Cafe !
Editorial Review. This 1950s-style diner caters to locals with juicy cheeseburgers, blue plate, comfort food specials and homemade desserts.
Having Been to Both. . .. I've been to both the original Owl Bar (not cafe), and the Eubank spawn, and I must say: the original has an exceptional green chile burger, and the Albuquerque one has truly baffling milkshakes. The burger in San Anton is small, true, but it is so messy, so delicious, so heart-meltingly full of NM green-chile goodness that one hardly notices; it's the very paradigm of what a NM green chile burger should be. The shakes at the Eubank one defy reason, the peanut butter one alone so heart-rendingly succulent as to totally obliterate the memory of any other milkshake one has ever had-anywhere. Both these places have unbeatable atmosphere: the original, dark faux-dive, the progeny cheerful 50s nostalgia.
Always good food. I ate at the San Antonio restaurant many times and consider the Owl in ABQ to be just as good. These burgers are they way burgers are supposed to be made.
Green Chili Cheeseburger. When you have an"Owl Cafe" burger, you feel like you died and went to heaven. The green chili cheeseburger along with their chili cheese fries are absolutely wonderful!
generic dining. Regarding the green chile burger. nothing spectacular here. In fact, most truck stops could compete with this restaurant for quality, and beat it in price. As far as the fries are concerned, I think they pushed the envelope in grease content and still keeping it in a semi-fry shape.
