Price is better then most compared to other sushi bar with same quality fish. Traditional food. Sushi rice is perfect also, not tasteless like other restaurant. I had the lover's roll (baked salmon) and crunchy fire roll(fried spicy tuna w/ scallop) they are so good. I was there on a friday nite it was a little busy so service was a little bit slow. But good food totally made up for it. We also had the teriyaki rib-eye steak with tempura, the steak is something. This is one of the most traditional japanese restaurant in albuquerque. I just love this place.
Small Expensive Sushi Rolls.
The most important part of the restaurant experience for me is the food, so that is what factors into my 2 star rating. The sushi rolls are completely small, with barely any fish actually in them. The prices are standard for sushi restaurant ($6-8), but since you get small rolls, it gets moved to the expensive category. Also, the wait to get my sushi was very long because there was only one sushi chef on duty.
Redeeming qualities include: Nice atmosphere, with pleasant music. Good service.
Overall: Not recommended unless you want to spend $35 a head to get full.
Mr. Sushi has some tasty Sushi!.
This place is across the street from the Wild Oats shopping center on Juan Tabo. It is in a strip mall type location. While the decor is lacking, the sushi is tasty and the prices are great. There is a bar in the middle where you watch the old sushi chef make your food, and there are booths and tables around the wall. The waiter seated us immediately and took our drink order immediately, and also brought us waters on top of our beer order.
I ordered a cucumber salad to start and the waiter brought our complimentary miso soup first, and then brought us both complimentary small salads, as well as the cucumber salad that I ordered.
We ordered five rolls and they were huge! The super crunch rolls were by far the best, as well as the Shrimp Tempura, Californian roll, and the Alaskan roll. We also tried the New Mexican roll with green chile (when else are you going to get New Mexican sushi! LOL). Everything was good and fresh tasting. The service was excellent. Sushi rolls ran from $3.50 up to $9.99, but most of ours were under $7.95. Will definitely be going back!
The only sushi place I love. Eaten sushi everywhere. But the best one has to go to Mr. Sushi. Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu hot-pot is the best there. Most of all, Sushi... Its the best. Excellent Miso Soup as well. Service wasn't the best but the food was tooooo good to even complain. Fish was as fresh as it can be. I saw the sushi chef cutting up a hole tuna and salmon in front of me. Wow. How fresh is that. Not like most place's where I have seen them use Pre-cut and Pre-frozen blocks of tuna or salmon.
Best sushi place!!!. Excellent sushi and kitchen menu. A little long of a wait but well worth it. Always fresh and the highest quality of fish of any sushi bar in albuquerque period. The only Shabu-Shabu hot-pot in town. Best Price in town.
