Have come down in quality and service since last year, 2008. – We normally stop in several times a year but the last few times has been a real experience in horrible service and unacceptable food. The salads are great but this time we notices extremely bright lighting over several tables including ours...so bright that we asked to be moved because we didn't appreciate looking like something out of a horror movie, plus the lights were really bright even though they were not pointed directly at us. Our waiter was somewhat of a green horn to the service industry; shy, apologetic and unsure of himself. Our food came within a reasonable amount of time, however, mine was supposed to be "encrusted" with pine nuts (I had the pine nut encrusted tilapia <sp?>) . What I got was a deep fried, greasy with sprinkled pine nuts thrown over the top. I was told that pine nuts were also ground into the batter before being pan fried. Never the less, it was loaded with grease and had the consistency of Long John Silver's fish and chips but the crust was mushy.
Pro's: None at this point.
Con's: Loud, inexperienced wait-staff, watery alcoholic beverages, took way too long to correct order...Management actually said that what I got was "encrusted" in spite of no apparent "crust" in sight, couldn't see actual food color because of bright red/pinkish halogen light...
I am very dissapointed with this restaurant at this point, though in the past they have been way better, however, the third time did not turn out to be the charm.
Try somewhere else. – 2/24/07: Food was Average at best, Service was well below average. Price was high for average food, and lousy service.
We arrived around 8pm on Saturday night. Wait was only 30 minutes for 2. The bar was available during the wait, we sat at the bar and had great service right away. Once we got our table, our friendly server took our drink order, and promptly returned to take our food order. That was the second to last time we saw her throughout the meal, the last was when she dropped of the check. Runners brought appetizer, salad, bread, and meal. I don't mind this, except the runners, were very bad about taking requests and dropping the ball. We both needed water refills that took 15 minutes to get, and a new round of drinks which we got when the original server dropped off the check. The salad, wasn't great chopped iceberg, with carrots, tomatoes and broccoli, but it was edible. The runners brought ranch dressing, I asked for Italian, my date, blue cheese. My dates salmon was on par with your local applebees, only ran 19.95. My ribeye, was about as good, and ran 18.95 on the specials menu.
All in all, NOT worth the price for the quality. If you're looking for a good steak and (limited) seafood, try Paul's Monterrey on Juan Tabo. I have not been disappointed there (although their salad is about the same as pelicans)
Fine Seafood Place – Good Seafood but a little loud and sometimes crowded. Service was on target bu overall not a bad experince.
