The Scene – Opened in 1969, this modest, family-run restaurant is bent on using native ingredients. It has its own variation on the Mexican theme, with strolling mariachis and authentic decor. Start with made-to-order guacamole, prepared tableside. The chimichangas are stuffed with beef, chicken or shrimp and crab, grilled and garnished with guacamole, sour cream and Hatch chile. The combination plates feature enchiladas, posole and chile relleno among the options.

horrible experience at Albuquerque airport

burned fajitas, raw chicken salad, manager Jeanine. Was very rude, SLOW service. I will eat anywhere but here in future.
Still Attractive, But Rather Skimpy Portions...Overpriced as a result.

Garduno's used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Albuquerque. I've eaten over the years in each of the city's offerings, and have found the "quantity" of food to have gradually decreased, while the "quality" is still there. Our last venture out was to Garduno's on Academy, and we ordered two Taco Salads, w/seasoned beef. One should not have to hunt for the beef, hidden in trace amounts under the lettuce leaves! For the price, the most disappointing Taco Salad I've ever had in Albuquerque. Their margaritas however are among the best in town, so we didn't feel too bad after our visit. :-) The interiors are also beautiful, and the ambience excellent. A nice place to take out of towners who don't know the best in New Mexican food.
- Pros: Ambience is excellent
- Cons: Portions have been shrinking
Way overrated!

I don't get it. This place consistently has the worst food of any Mexican restuarant in ABQ. I guess the ambience and the drinks must make up for it. They do have great ambience and great drinks and a wonderful happy hour with drink specials and free food. Just don't get so happy that you stay around for dinner.
- Pros: Ambience, drinks
- Cons: The Food
