BEST USED CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE. I've had terrible experiences with used car dealers in the past and prepared myself for the worst when I contacted Houston Wholesale. I was pleasantly surprised when I spoke to them and inquired about a car I was interested in. Since I had done my homework and knew exactly what I wanted and the price ranges this particular car was being offered at I thought the price listing was either a) a mistake b) a bait and switch or c) a lemon. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was none of the above. The transaction couldn't have gone more smoothly..they were very fair with the price and gave me a better than fair trade in value on my car. I was in and out with a new/used car in less than 3 hours (and that included taking the car to a dealer for an inspection). When I noticed the cd player didn't work 2 weeks later. I called and the salesman couldn't have been more apologetic and asked me what I thought was fair. In the end we compromised. He put a check in the mail that day which covered 75% of the repair which made me more than satisfied...which leads me to give them a 5 star rating..what goes around comes around!
Houston Wholesale sells discount crap.
If I could give this place no stars on this website I would. The reviews with 5-stars are extremely suspicious, definitely written by people that work at Houston Wholesale. Besides the fact that there are either only 1-star reviews or 5-star reviews, I overheard one of the salesmen talking about some of the bad reviews given on this website. He said they would hurt their business...well duh. You know what also hurts your business? Bad business practices that prompt customers to write bad reviews.
I had a similar experience to that of carcamano - one of my sisters bought a car form Houston Wholesale, soon after she spun out in the middle of a busy road. Thankfully traffic had slowed down so she was fine. But she was given even more trouble by Houston Wholesale who defended their in-house mechanic's assessment. Their mechanic, by the way, has a part share in Houston Wholesale...you do the math. Well we had two other mechanics, ones who are not on Houston Wholesales payroll, take a look at the car and both discovered extensive damage to the brake system. Houston Wholesale battled with us for a bit, but realized they had been caught so gave my sister her money back in full. Needless to say, she bought another car from somewhere else.
You want to be mocked and taken advantage of, go to Houston Wholesale on Lomas.
BEWARE. This dealership proved itself to be misleading. My sister purchased a used vehicle with Houston Wholesale Cars. Three days later, the car spun out of control while driving on the highway after she tapped on the brakes. She luckily was not injured or hit by oncoming traffic. She promptly took the car back to Houston Wholesale and described what had happened. They said they would look at the car and see what might have caused this incident. After their mechanic supposedly looked at the car, they told her they didn't find anything wrong with the brake system or with the car and they blamed her for the car spinning out of control. She then took the car to an independent mechanic who described the brake system as unsafe which most likely led to the car spinning out of control. When we took the car back to the dealership with this new assessment, they agreed to take it to an authorized dealership for an inspection. While inquiring about the car being inspected, one Houston employee was incredibly rude and confrontational. The third inspection found the whole brake system to be contaminated and recommended repairs in the thousands of dollars. Although Houston was willing to take the car back, we had to endure the rude and hostile behavior of one of the salesmen and they accused us of missing the problem as well, while never recognizing the danger this vehicle could have posed to us. Houston has proven itself to be unreliable at best and absolutely corrupt of any morals and good business practice at worst. My sister could have been seriously injured or killed because this dealership willfully and negligently sold her a vehicle with a faulty and damaged brake system, and then claimed the car was in safe working order for a second time putting her life at risk. I would not recommend this dealership.
The Best Used Automobile Dealer in Albuquerque.
How do you say Thank You to great people and a great Company, Houston Wholesale. After spending a frustrating hour with a local auto dealer, and having my intelligence insulted, my companion berated and my financial worth questioned, it was nice to sit down with people who were just trying to accomplish one goal. Help me find a car that would be reliable transportation and within my budget. They did both. They listened and were great at proposing options, and really cared about my needs not their own. I am so grateful they took the stress out of a very stressful situation and helped in every way. I wish Houston Wholesale a Happy and Healthy 2011...and yes I will tell everyone I know that they did business right way the first time.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Gary Padilla has to be the most rudest person I have ever met or conducted business with. Being in customer service myself- that's saying something. He is insolent, rude and quick to temper. He actually insulted me on a personal level during- which was completely uncalled for. I literally came to advise him that I had, as yet, been unable to acquire an actual quote for a part that was due for repair on the vehicle.
His negative response (ie instead of fixing the matter trying to bully me to give the car back) really put me on my guard.
I think he was trying to make me storm out but I am quite a calm person and I just kept looking at him like he was insane and asking him to calm down. I felt like a mother talking to her 4 year old son that had his favorite toy taken away from him- it was quite ridiculous. He riled himself up to such a point that he ended up insulting me personally!
I, the customer! managed to eventually calm him down! That I should have to use my customer service training to deal with this salesman/manager not the other way around. I could this as material for a comedy!! This man eventually apologized for his behavior but I strongly advise against even bothering to do business with him and this dealership. The price is NOT worth the experience.
Awesome place, great car, great deal.
I searched all over the state and near by states online looking at dealer inventories for the car I wanted, with the options I wanted, in a color I liked, and at a price I liked. After an exhausting search, I found the car that fit exactly what I was looking for. One of 2 colors I wanted, every option I wanted, a few that were listed on my list as nice but not needed, and they did this at a price that beat everyone else within 300 miles of town by 2 grand.
And when I got to the lot the experience just got better, amazingly nice friendly staff, handed me the keys to the car and asked me to be back in half an hour from my test drive and to not beat on the car during the drive, but that they were not riding along so as to let me make up my mind with out pressure of a salesman in the car with me, decided to buy and the low pressure attitude continued into the office where they ran the numbers, got me the needed loan (with less than stellar credit even) and gave me a great price for my trade.
I highly recommend these guys, and Emilio in particular, to anyone. I had a chance to talk to all 3 salesmen even though Emilio was my salesman and all were nice, kind, and were helping their customers as much as Emilio was helping me. I will definitely be looking there for a car again in the future if/when I buy my next car.
Very straight and upfront deal. These guys aren't fancy, but they are straight forward and don't act like cheesy car salesmen. They are very straight with the financing, and showed me everything that is normally hush hush at the big dealers. They have a full inventory, and several choices of similar cars. I made an offer, they declined and encouraged me to shop other dealers. I was afraid the car would sell, so I bought it for the listed price anyway. Afterward I searched the net and could not find a better deal.
I LOVE MY CAR!. Purchased my car last month, would recommend to anyone. I was treates well and absolutely love my car!
Go somewhere else!. Lookie here, the cars are at a great price because they are repo's which means the person who owned them couldnt make payments thus couldnt afford to do basic maintenance and the dealer does not even change the oil or filters. The people you will be working with think they are doing you a favor or something, they openly discuss other customers personal business openly in there small office, spend some time there you will see! After I bought the car there were some major problems that they promised to handle but they never returned calls and the sales weasel cussed me out and that was the last I heard from them. I always remain courteous and professional if you want the same treatment go elsewhere!!!
Has Gone Way Down Hill.
I've purchased a number of vehicles from Houston Wholesale in the past. All of the cars have been great.
As other reviews have noted, sales staff can be arrogant
and convey a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. In the past few weeks, the dealer's inventory has shrunk to just a few vehicles. Maybe their days are numbered. This is sad since they USED to be a great dealer to purchase high quality vehicles from at a very good price.
