Don't pass it up. We almost drove pass this place but are so happy we did not miss it. We both had the chili cheese dog and enjoyed every last bite. My husband got the onion rings and said they were nothing great but the chili dog made-up for them. Watch out the chili does have some heat. I will go back next time we are in town!

Don't see what all the fuss is about. Perhaps my standards are different than others'. I went to this place expecting really good, Route 66, diner-style fare. What I got was mediocre, at best. The onion rings were literally the same as I'd get in my grocery store's freezer section. The chili that other reviewers have raved about truly tasted as though it had come from a can. The hot dogs were standard fare. Basically, I've gotten better foot-long Coney's at my neighborhood Sonic.

All in all, I wouldn't say the food was inedible, but it certainly didn't rate the rave reviews that others have given it considering how many truly fantastic "roadside dive" meals that I've had the pleasure to consume along historic Route 66.

As a side note, the sign wasn't nearly as "kitchy" as I'd been led to believe - it's not that big, it's only got about 2 colors on it, and it's not even maintained well enough to indicate the owners see it as a point of pride.

I had the onion rings and hot dog with onions, cheese, and chili. When I went, it was about 1:30 in the afternoon, and not busy at all. Conversely, I noticed a Mexican Restauarant the block before the "Dog House" that was PACKED (an odd hour for so many cars). On my way back to the hotel from my disappointing excursion, I decided to stop by the other restauarant (named Garcia's Kitchen). I ordered a small plate of "Karnitas" - there's a reason why all the cars were parked in front of Garcia's and not the Dog House... the food was MUCH better. Granted, it was a different type of cuisine, but if I had to choose between bland, from-frozen diner-style food or freshly-prepared Mexican-style food, I'll take the freshly prepared food any day.

In summay, if you happen to be walking by, and you are desperately hungry, the Dog House is acceptable fare. However, I would not recommend driving out of your way, or even holding off your appitite in order to partake of the fare here.

Easily one of the Best Hot Dog Spots in the country. Before I lived here, just passing through, I stopped at the DogHouse because of the funky neon sign. But this place ended up being much more than a photo op. The DogHouse has the best chili cheese dogs anywhere in the US. I lived in L.A. most of my life and this place certainly smokes the over-rated Pink's we have out there. The reason: Best Chili you will find anywhere; thick and spicy. The DogHouse is certainly one of the perks of living in ABQ and I recommend it to any Chili Dog lover. Its the best!! The dining room is very small (very funky though and worth checking out) but waitresses will come up to your car and take your order, so...

The best hole in the wall. When I was stationed in ABQ me and my friends would go to the Dog House almost every weekend. The food is cheap and so good. The foot long hot dog with chili and cheese was my favorite. The chili was hot but so good. I loved that they grilled the hot dogs and the buns. I even took my parents there when they came out to visit. My dad wants to go back to New Mexico just to eat there again. It is truely is the best

Best Dogs in The West!. This is by far the best dog you could find in the Southwest.! I would say the best in the nation, but Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit has that title just by a slim margin.
