Bargain prices, oversize portions: Mexican and American greasy-spoon eats make this tiny diner a neighborhood favorite.. The Scene


La Familiar's walls are covered with bright murals depicting scenes of Mexico and New Mexico. Old-timers and regulars hunch over their cups of coffee at the counter while big families still dressed up from church head for the tables in the back. Semi-regular strolling guitarists provide a soundtrack for the meal at a volume that allows you to continue conversation.



The Food


It's known for its hangover remedy, menudo (spicy soup with chiles and tripe) and crispy chicharron (twice-fried pork rind) burritos. But La Familiar also offers American-style greasy-spoon eats like biscuits and gravy and chicken-fried steak. The chili-smothered breakfast burrito, stuffed with scrambled eggs, thick slices of bacon and chunky home fries is more than the average person can eat. This joint really draws a crowd for breakfast: Get there before noon on the weekends for super-cheap breakfast specials.

I LUV THE FOOD. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS THE PRICES ARE NOT BAD AND THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENTI WOULDN'T ANY WHERE ELSE ONE TIME I LEFT MY CELL PHONE AND THEY HAPPILY RETURNED IT THANKS A WHOLE BUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
