First impressions are important.
When we walked into Universal massage we were bombarded with chaos. I didnt feel relaxed and I actually just felt frustrated. People were walking around, and talking loudly. Many of the therepists (or all) were in scrubs which made me feel like I was in a doctors office...awful.
Costomer service is important even at a school or especially at a school where beginning therepists need to have a good example of professionalism. I didnt feel this professional quality was present. Even the "professional" therepist seemed impatient and annoyed with us. When She(the therepist) called out a name, which was pronounced wrong, Neither of us could tell who she was talking to. She then rudely said," I am the "professional!".
Who wants to be treated like a nuisance? when someone is coming to get a massage for the first time. all they want is to feel secure and safe and Cared For! Wow.
I also want to comment on the masage I recieved from a student. This student didnt touch the body over the sheet. Instead she threw back the sheet without any introduction to the body and started working. This is The worst way to start a massage. That first touch over the sheet helps a person feel safe and relaxed. There must be a connection before exposing that person.
Editorial Review. Medically modeled massage therapy institute offers students the opportunity to hone their craft while customers receive discounted massages.
