BEWARE!! Mediocre jewelry-shoddy work!!.
In March 2011 I brought in a 0.80 ct. loose diamond to have placed in a setting. I decided on a basic 14k white gold setting and it was set within 2 hours of purchase. The price seemed reasonable and the service was decent (the salesman was a bit of an idiot, but nice).
On October 19, 2011 I looked down at my ring and noticed the diamond had FALLEN OUT...luckily I found it! I took it back to Jared's that afternoon and spoke with my original salesman. He looked at the setting and said that one of the prongs was "broken" and asked for them to repair it for free since it had only been 6 mos since purchase. He said since I had not purchased the extended warranty that I would have to pay for it myself. I requested a manager and was told he would be in the next day. I went in the next afternoon and spoke to the store manager (Dale) and explained my issue to him. He looked at the setting and said that one of the prongs was "bent" and I had clearly snagged it on something and he would not repair it without charging me. He condescendingly apologized and said I should have bought the warranty. I responded that I didn't think I would have issues within 6 mos.
After I left I went to my normal jewelry story (Zales) and the manager took the setting to her master jeweler and was told that none of the prongs were bent OR broken and it just look like it was poorly set and the prongs on the head were cut to shallow. I paid $125 to have Zales fix it.
I tried filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, but was again told that it was my fault for not purchasing their warranty...I guess you really need it at Jared's!!
CONSUMER BEWARE...they sell mediocre junk and the so-called customer service is a joke when you have issues.

i have bought several pieces of jewelry from another jewelry store here in town. they changed ownership and let all the good employees go. ( thankfully Jareds hired them!)
Everytime i go to jareds all of the staff is so warm and friendly. if i go to make a payment on my account they always offer to clean all of my jewelry even what came from other stores. i know take all of my jewelry there, for repair ( even if i have to pay for it, its worth not waiting for 3 weeks )
