I spoke to the folks at Direct Buy over the phone, they invited my wife and to go to the show room in Albuquerque and see what it was all about, they also offered me a free trip for 2 nights and $100.00 spending money.
My wife and I drove down from Santa Fe, filled out some forms and were given a tour. After the sales pitch I was handed over to the owner. I am remodeling my house and have priced wood floors, cabinets, counter tops, a gas fireplace...and told him I wanted to compare prices with products he had to offer. He told me he couldn't do this because I didn't have the information on the things I wanted to price check against. I told him I would come back with the literature and do a price comparison. His mood totally changed saying I had to sign up that night and I could never come back if I didn't. I am no impulse buyer and this strong armed sales pitch is one I've seen before when buying cars.
DO NOT FALL FOR IT!! I've always said if it's a good deal today it will be a good deal tomorrow but I wasn't given the opportunity to turn over all the rocks because of the high pressure sales pitch.
Read up on reviews from BestBuy, if these guys can't make it at BestBuy I'm sure they would be great at selling used cars.

DIRECT BUY IS HORRIBLE – YOU WILL BE SORRY. OVER 5 GRAND IS A TOTAL RIPOFF. YOU HAVE TO WAIT MONTHS TO GET PRODUCTS, IF YOU GET THEM AT ALL. I FIND BETTER PRICES ON THE INTERNET OR AT SALES AT LOCAL STORES. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, FORGET ABOUT GETTING ANY RESPONSE FROM OWNERS OR HEADQUARTERS. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PHONE CALL ABOUT A COMPLAINT AFTER 2 MONTHS. STAY AWAY. I WISH SOMEONE HAD WARNED ME. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU DURING THE SCIENTOLOGY-LIKE MESMERIZING SALES SESSION WHERE YOU HAVE TO DECIDE THAT MINUTE, OR BE FOREVER BANNED FROM THEIR DOORS:
1. THEY ADD AN 8% FEE PLUS HUGE SHIPPING COSTS TO EVERY ORDER.
2. PRICES FOR EVERYTHING WE SAW WERE CHEAPER ON THE INTERNET IN ALMOST EVERY CASE, AND OFTEN INCLUDED SHPPING!!!.
3. YOU CANNOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. EVEN THE VERY NEXT DAY. NEVER, EVER. PAY YOUR MONEY OR ELSE.
4. THEY DO NOT REPRESENT THE BEST PRODUCT LINES, AND THE "MANUFACTURER'S PRICING" IS A COMPLETE LOAD OF BUNK.
5. THEIR SALES APPROACH IS BEYOND DECEPTIVE -- THE PROMISE OF LOWER PRICES IS A COMPLETE JOKE, PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU ADD IN THEIR CRAZY FEES.
good people, great experience – found exactly what I needed and helped by very nice service professionals all along the way.
Misleading Sales and DB lack of accountability – Membership with Direct Buy (DB) is not as good as it appears. No Member support from DB managers.

The best decision I ever made! – Feb 26, 2011
I was so scared to join this place after reading some reviews but I kept an open mind and attended a tour anyway. I am soooo glad I did - I priced out a bedroom set from Mor and American and I am going to save $3,000.00 on just the bedroom set!! I'm pleasantly surprised that the tour was not what I thought it was going to be - we toured with a girl named Melissa and she was delightful. She blew us away with her knowledge of the products and the presentation was really fun. My husband didn't want to come so I had to drag him in - but I was dragging him out to leave because the tour was fun and the prices were unbelievable!!!! I think you should keep an open mind when going in they sell EVERYTHING we were really surprised!
However make sure you do have some money when going in as you'll be putting some money down on the membership that day. I am very satisfied - more than satisfied with my membership and I have told several in my family to join cause times are hard and we all need to save money.
Horrible Service – I have been a member for sometime and have had a number of problems. I have had to deal with the owner, Erin, and she is no help. Everytime I have had to deal with her she pushes us off onto someone else. The only reason why we still purchase items from directbuy is because of the nice gentlemen in the warehouse. We always enjoyed working the warehouse manager, Marcus, he was always the most helpful person working at directbuy, if he didnt know the answer he would do everything in his power to get answers. He always had a smile, helped s load our truck even when he had on very nice dress clothes. Everytime we went in, Marcus was always running around very busy and we felt bad for him because he never had help to stay on track (poor guy). Direcbuy got rid of Marcus and now we DO NOT look forward going to pick up our items at all. Getting rid of Marcus was a big mistake and im sure lost some service for directbuy. (Please bring Marcus back)
