And our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. If you do get sub-par service, remember that you're in New Mexico. It's the third most impoverished state in the country. If you think the employee pool here is going to be anywhere close to good, think again.
Birthday Bash to Birthday Bomb. It would take too long to go into detail, but while the staff was friendly, the service wasn't good, the food was only okay, and the wait for the food after ordering was terrible. There is a more detailed account on my blog.
A BRAND NEW FAVORITE (Are they keeping this place a secret??).
Well, it took more than one visit to be sure we liked it - and boy! Did we ever!
Our first time we stopped in for an early dinner - Service by Angelo - Food by Walter - Management by Andy - all outstanding. Nice atmosphere, though not fancy, and everyone was very friendly. I'm not a bread eater but did in indulge while dipping it in Italian spices with extra virgin olive oil and having a bowl of Pasta e Fagioli; my husband had the Minestrone. For dinner, I had the Pepperoni Chicken atop Penne pasta while my husband had the Pasta feast - meatballs and sausage with Angel Hair Pasta. Both were excellent! Served hot in huge bowls with freshly grated cheese. Waaay too much good food - I decided next time I'd pass on soup (or salad which I tried on a subsequent visit and found it to be very good) . I still brought home enough for lunch the next two days. I'd been in several years ago with my mother and had almost forgotten about it; not wanting to go the "other" Italian place nearby, (we've found the menu boring with too few specials). We took a chance and were absolutely delighted. We've returned twice (we both had Lasagna once the Chicken Parmigiana the other time) and both encounters were great. We've got a new favorite place for excellent food, service and value! Thanks to everyone there for making each of our experiences very pleasurable.
(I don't recall seeing any advertisements for Zio's, but heartily disagree with the reviews I saw - which are, admittedly several years old)
Not very good.... I have mixed feelings about Zio's, but for the most part, my wife and I were not impressed. I had the Pepperoni Chicken calzone, which was actually quite good. The calzone came with whatever pasta I wanted as a side - I chose fettuccine alfredo. The alfredo sauce was worse than the alfredo in most microwaveable meals I've had - no seasoning at all, just plain white sauce. It was very bland. My wife had a combination dish, chicken parmesan and lasagna. Both were very bland, but the lasagna was terrible. Dishes do not come with soup or salad. We will definitely not go back to Zio's. But if you do go, I recommend the calzone; mine really was good.
experince at Zio's. They have wine glasses on the table with candles. The Ambience is a great family feeling. The food is great, cooked right there for you to see. Over all great time.
NOT impressed. The whole place seemed to be run by high school students, and the food seemed like it was straight out of a freezer (at least they took the time to heat it up!). My wife and I were not impressed by the atmosphere, the service, the value, or the food!
