Tips for Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

I used to work there. You know you can trust food that the employees eat there too. Well, we do!! I used to work there a couple years back as a hostess. I have never seen better service than what Pappadeaux's provides. Also, the kitchen is the cleanest kitchen I've ever seen. They also take it extremely seriously if you say you have a food allergy. Best place in town to eat by far!!! (they're also a great place to work for if you're looking :)

Surprised by the positive reviews. Granted, it's been a few years since I've been here.. and granted, I'm a New Orleans native. So my opinion is obviously a bit biased. However, I was quite unimpressed by the food here. It was bland and did not taste fresh at all, and it was WAY overpriced for what you got. Only positives were that I got decent service, and the atmosphere was kind of fun.

I'd love to find good seafood here in Abq, but I think I'll just wait until I visit New Orleans again. Pappadeaux is definitely not worth the visit.

Wonderful!. We took my mother-in-law for her 80th birthday, as well as my nephew for his 25th. The food was great, service was spot-on, everything was wonderful...so wonderful, in fact, that I requested to go for MY birthday coming up! I can't imagine what happened between 1/22/2010 when we went and 1/23/2010 when the other reviewer said they had such a bad time...strange!!!

Great Atmosphere. We were there on 1/23/10 for a Birthday dinner. Only one of the three dishes was satisfactory. On the Filet Mignon Pappadeaux the spinach was too salty to eat, mashed potatoes were almost as bad and the asparagus was barely warm let alone cooked. The crab stuffed shrimp was so salty you couldn't eat it and the green beans had barely been cooked. Over all it was a great disappointment - especially for a birthday celebration. A fair amount was spent for three people and we don't feel we got our money's worth out of the meals. We told our waiter how salty the food was and he said sometimes it does come out that way. I have been there several times before and the meals were always great, but after this visit I'm not sure if we will ever eat there again.

Love the Seafood. I have to say that I have never really eaten Creole type food, but if Pappadeaux's is an example of it, then I love it.  I love the bold flavors of the food and you can definitely tell that it is fresh.  Pappadeaux's is my favorit seafood restaurant that I have been to.  It is a chain of restaurants, but the quality of the food is always great.  I love the seafood skewer with Salmon, Scallops, Shrimp, Onions, Bell Peppers on a bed of dirty rice.  The Salmon is cooked just right, they are so tender and the meat just breaks off perfectly cooked.  The Scallops are also cooked perfectly not too long so its not chewy and not raw although if you have to err on any side, I would always prefer undercooked when it comes to seafood.  What makes the dish is the dipping sauce that comes with the dish.  Its a buttery sauce and you can taste a hint of wine in the sauce that complements the whole dish so well.  I've also tried the Catfish Oppelousas, although I'm not a big fan of catfish, they'll let you substitute it for another fish.  I chose Salmon.  The sauce has great big bold flavors and oysters in it.  Pappadeaux's is definitely a place that you  can go to and order anything on the menu and you will always be pleased.

Excellent!. I was in Albuquerque on business for 12 nights and ate here 5 times! I usually arrived around 5:30 p.m. when Happy Hour was in full swing. One of the nightly Happy Hour specials is Grey Goose martinis for $5.50. The bartender made them well. Oysters were served in a large mound of ice and very fresh. The alligator was the best I have ever had and served with three dipping sauces. The decor is upscale casual. I highly recommend sitting at the bar where all the action is.

Was it the scallops?. The other 3 diners were impressed with their meals. However, I seemed to think my pan seared scallops were undercooked, or at least half of them. Regretably, I did not return the undercooked scallops and within an hour or so, I was sick - very sick. I should have known better.

Is it just me?. It's unfortunate that the 2 times I went to Pappadeaux's, each time I was given poor service. The first time my husband and I went, we were seated by the hostess and the waitress. I asked to be seated in a certain area and I could see the glares the hostess and waitress had given each other. I asked if that was ok and of course she said yes....kinda awkward. Second time I was in a party of 18 ..the waiter and waitress were excellent until one of the servers slammed down the tray and said.."Where does THIS go?" My jaw dropped.

I do have to say their food is great , especially the coconut shrimp appetizer...mmmm they have this orange sauce that is to die for...try it if you get the chance.

I will probably not go there again. Service is almost everything to most people when dining out. Good luck.

Excellent food and good service. We enjoyed the sister restaurant Pappacitos so we though we would give this a try. We had the Shrimp Creole and a spinach salad with shrimp and a creamy blue cheese dressing. Both excellent and the portions were large. Hot french bread was served with the meal and it was good. It is a large facility and very busy but the service was on spot and friendly. The menu is varied and if you crave some New Orleans favorites but can't get there, this was a good alternative. The only weak spot was the bar as no frosted glass for the beer and the Bloody Mary was only average. We will go back.
